Rather than simply calling us a "church", it is more accurate to describe Skyline as a network of Missional Communities. We are passionate about BEING the church, not simply attending it. Missional Communities are the dream we share to best BE the church together.
Currently, we host a weekly Gathering for connection and celebration, but the essence of who we are can be found in the life of a Missional Community. To experience Missional Community, we recommend you come to the Gathering to make natural connections.
Missional Communities provide the ideal environment for building relationships while connecting to the heart and mission of the church. To join a Missional Community is to enter into the journey of Christian Discipleship.
The journey of Christian Discipleship begins and ends with Jesus. The life, teachings and way of Jesus (Christology) determines the purpose of God and the lifestyle of God's people (Missiology), which determines the form and function of the church (Ecclesiology).
The Missional Community is key as it keeps the church small enough for everyone to be known and to be involved in the work of ministry, each one using their own gifts to build the Kingdom. They are light on teaching and heavy on relationships, everyone participates. Missional Communities are small enough to have a shared mission, but big enough to do something about it.
Our Missional Communities are groups of people throughout Oklahoma City in which Communion, Community and Commission unfold as a way of life. A Missional Community ranges from 15 to 50 people (mid-sized) who establish their own rhythm for their life together.
Simply put, a Missional Community is an extended family (or tribe of people) sharing life and mission together.
Every Missional Community is guided by these three values:
Communion - In Relationship w/ Christ
Community - In Relationship w/ One Another
Commission - In Relationship w/ Our City & The World
We believe that whenever you see a community of people who find a rhythm and balance among Communion, Community, and Commission, you will always find the Kingdom. It will be tangible!
